Grass Valley’s revitalized Thursday Night Market (photo essay)

We at Sierra FoodWineArt magazine had a hunch the revitalized Thursday Night Market in downtown Grass Valley was going to be a good food, wine & art story: Al fresco dining, menus with fresh, local ingredients, more local farmers, live music, family activities, wine tasting, shopping, local artwork and more.

Downtown Grass Valley, once the richest of all California gold-mining towns, has undergone a renaissance, as we’ve written before, and it has a new Visitor’s Center.

We have supported downtown Grass Valley as one of the pioneer “associate members” of the Downtown Association and as publishers of the GVDA’s first annual Welcome Guide (a full-color, glossy magazine with original content that has been circulating in Sacramento, Reno, Tahoe-Truckee, Lincoln-Rocklin-Roseville-Folsom, Chico, Marysville, Yuba City and the Sierra Foothills since spring). A digital version is here.

With the “new” Thursday Night Market’s debut, we hired and assigned photographer Kial James of Kial James Design to capture the energy and excitement. We collaborated with Kial to create a photo essay that illustrates what’s new at the Thursday Night Market, highlights local products and merchants, and shows visitors who are eating, shopping, singing and dancing. This Facebook photo essay is a good example of our integrated print/web/social media strategy. We hope you enjoy it!
