Grass Valley Courtyard Suites: “A suite hotel”

TUCKED IN A QUIET NEIGHBORHOOD a block from the charming downtown, Grass
Valley Courtyard Suites is an ideal spot for a getaway.

Courtyard Suites—now celebrating its eighth year—blends the charm of a B&B with the amenities of a deluxe hotel. It features luxurious, spacious rooms on lovely landscaped grounds with a heated swimming pool, sauna and fitness center.

“We are your home away from home,” says owner Kathy Racz, an interior designer for years. “The hotel has everything you can think of.”

This summer, the hotel expanded to include a day spa for locals and visitors alike,
offering massages, facials, manicures and a whirlpool bath.

In addition, the hotel just added a handsome 6,000-sq.-ft. conference center for retreats, wine tastings and other events. In one of the rooms, the walls are historic mine rock. The center provides state-of-the-art communications.

Courtyard Suites has 27 rooms, and a handful. more will be added with the hotel’s new expansion.

All of the rooms have Caroline’s fresh ground coffee and coffee makers; robes; luxurious linens; quality “Tempurpedic” mattresses; microwaves; refrigerators; 27-inch TVs with HBO; DVD players; lighted vanity mirrors; hair dryers; in-room safes; iron and ironing boards; and desks with DSL connections.

Each room has its own signature and style, featuring natural stone, fabrics and color.

Some of the suites include fully equipped kitchens with oven, stove, full-size refrigerators, large dining room, a fireplace and a patio or deck—a perfect home base to explore the area. The hotel also has a laundry facility and is pet friendly.

The lounge adjoining the lobby serves a continental breakfast, evening wine and hors d’oeuvres. A concierge service can help with dinner reservations or planning an outing.

The grounds include a sparkling fountain, barbeque area and a lush lawn. The setting makes the hotel popular for weddings.
